Interns
Counseling interns at Humble Hearts are working on developing their therapeutic skills. They are regularly supervised and are a great way to see old problems through new eyes. Our interns see adults and kids of all ages and can accept Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa clients in person or via telehealth. Intern rates are $40 per session. ValTrenda Hip'pard

ValTrenda is a dedicated and compassionate mental health professional currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. With a strong academic foundation that includes an Associate of Science in Counseling and Human Services and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, she brings over a decade of hands-on experience in the mental health field. She also holds a Leadership Certificate from Yale University’s School of Management, which underscores her passion for advocacy, systemic change, and leadership within the behavioral health field.

ValTrenda’s work focuses on empowering individuals navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, personal development, and the lasting impacts of domestic violence. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, cultural competence, and evidence-based practice, with a deep commitment to helping clients reclaim their voice, rebuild their confidence, and thrive.

Cecelia Greve

Cecelia Greve is a dedicated counseling intern currently pursuing her master’s degree in counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. She integrates a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centered, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and Jungian depth psychology, to support children and adolescents in navigating emotional and developmental challenges. With a methodical approach to learning and practice, Cecelia is committed to fostering meaningful connections with young clients, helping them explore self-expression, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies. She excels in designing experiential activities
that encourage emotional processing and creative engagement, particularly for those who may struggle with anxiety, depression, or adjustment difficulties. As an intern, Cecelia is eager to refine her clinical skills while working alongside experienced professionals to create individualized, strengths-based therapeutic experiences. She believes in
the power of creativity to facilitate healing and is excited to contribute her expertise and enthusiasm to the counseling team.

Sarah Harr

Sarah is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at MidAmerica Nazarene University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Missouri–Columbia with 17 years of experience as a paralegal. In addition to her academic and professional background, Sarah is an avid advocate for animal welfare, actively involved in fostering rescues alongside her dog, Maui. Sarah's commitment to physical fitness is demonstrated through her role as a CrossFit athlete and coach, where she has been an integral part of her local gym community for the past decade. Sarag is passionate about helping individuals navigate and overcome past traumas, empowering them to realize their full potential through a client-centered approach that fosters resilience and personal growth.

Matthew 'James' Young

My name is Matthew 'James' Young, and I am a student at Ottawa University in Kansas.
I am presently on a quest for my MAC (Master of Arts in Counseling), working towards obtaining my LPC. James enjoys working with pre-teens, adults, and couples. James works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, Veterens Issues, and a variety of other concerns.
